In honor of Nathan and Kaleb we are going to make the Holiday a little happier for the parents at Ronald McDonald House and giving back to Texas Children’s Hospital. We could not have gotten through our stay at the hospital without either of them. The hospitality we received from the Ronald McDonald House was amazing. They gave us a place to sleep and a hot shower every night we were there and a community living area for parents to relax and feel at home when needing to get away for a few minutes. The nurses and doctors at Texas Children’s are the best of the best. They cared and loved our boys just as much as we do and took excellent care of Nathan and Kaleb. They will always have a special place in our hearts forever.
We can’t thank everyone enough for all the support and prayers. We couldnt have gotten through it any other way. We are home resting now, and beginning a new chapter of healing and reminiscing about the good days that us, our family, and so many friends were able to spend with our precious boys. They will be in our hearts forever.
Love,
Susan, Russ, Gizmo, and Bella Rimmerman

We will always love you, son.
He looks like he is feeling a little better! His color looks better and he is back to being active. A fungus blood culture was sent off this morning and we should have those results in about a week. (they want to check for anything and everything that could be making him not feel so good) His glucose level is back in the normal range after another round of insulin last night. Surgeons said his tummy color is looking better and better and his tummy is nice and soft. There is still a possibility he might have to have surgery in the future.
More updates later
Nathan’s glucose levels have been very high for the past day so they are starting to talk about a possible infection. They’ve started giving him insulin and that helped his glucose levels normalize pretty quickly, but we’re waiting for his blood panels to come back to confirm or deny an infection. The full blood panel results can take 24-48 hours to complete, but if they detect an infection that should come back sooner. They’ve started him on a mix of antibiotics as a precaution and are continuing to monitor his blood glucose levels. He’s still on ventilator, and his stats have been good.
The vascular team also was able to finally install a arterial line so they can more easily get blood rather than pricking his heel every time. He seems to be happy about that.
Nathan was getting a little tired from working so hard on breathing on his own with the c-pap, so he was put back on the ventilator at 4:30 this morning. The doctor said that’s okay, he tried and did great he is still really little so it’s going to take some time.
Mommy has a doctors appointment today, and Nathan is going to behave for Allison while we are gone.
