Our Sweet Angel Nathan

It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since I held you as you took your last breath, gave you your last bath, changed your last diaper and got to snuggle you for the last time.  I snuggled you for 6 hours and that whole time all I could do was stare at your adorable face, give you kisses, tell you how much mommy and daddy love you.  These are the most precious moments a mommy could have and I will treasure them forever.  Mommy and daddy love and miss you with all our hearts baby boy.

Making the Holiday’s a little brighter

We had such a wonderful response with this last year we want to do it again!

In honor of our precious sons Nathan and Kaleb we would like to make the holiday’s a little brighter for the mommies and daddies that are staying at the NICU Ronald McDonald House by donating items needed to help support them.  We could not have gotten through our stay at the hospital without them.  The hospitality we received from the Ronald McDonald House was amazing.  They gave us a place to sleep and a hot shower every night we were there and a community living area for parents to relax and feel at home when needing to get away for a few minutes.

Happy 1st Birthday Nathan & Kaleb

A year ago today (11:30am & 11:31am) I gave birth to our adorable and precious twin sons Nathan and Kaleb.  I never thought in a million years that I wouldn’t be able to bring my babies home, but am very thankful for the time we had with them to bond and make all the wonderful memories that we will cherish forever.  This has been the toughest year of my life and I am so thankful to have the worlds best husband, family, and friends to help get me through it.

I should be planning a fun party and spoiling my babies, but instead Daddy and I will celebrate their birthday with a balloon release at the park and remembering all the wonderful moments we had with each of our sons.

Remember Me Always Ceremony at TCH (4/27/13)

Today we attended a memory ceremony at Texas Children’s Hospital to honor our sons and other babies that are now angels.

We received a magnolia tree seedling for each of our boys to plant and a rock with their names that the staff painted for each baby.

Texas Children’s is planting a larger tree right outside the hospital.  All the mommy’s and daddy’s wrote a short letter or prayer to their baby and placed it with the tree and they will be planted with the tree.   We also wrote the boy’s names on little hearts that we hung from the tree.

Soda Tab Collections for RMH

                                                                               373017_48423211136_262158835_q

We would like to help our local RMH at Texas Children’s raise money by collecting soda tabs!

Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it’s more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier. The program is an easy way for people of all ages to support RMHC and know they are making a difference for families and children.  If your local Ronald McDonald House participates in the program, it’s likely cardboard collection containers in the shape of a house have been distributed to schools, community and civic groups and other organizations in your area. Collect pop tabs to drop off at one of these areas, or contact your local House about getting a collection container that you can be responsible for filling through one of your own groups.  After the tabs are collected, the local RMHC Chapter brings the collection to local recycling centers, where they are weighed to determine their value (values can vary significantly). The recycling center then sends the local RMHC Chapter a check for the total value.

Collecting soda tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Some of our Chapters raise thousands of dollars with their pop tab collections. While it does vary by Chapter, RMHC Upper Midwest raises approximately $30,000 a year through their pop tab program. Now that is a lot of pop tabs! Did you ever think it could be so easy to help families in need?
